Whilst most people think the Alps are a great spot for winter holidays, there are loads of incredible events running through the summer months that keep holiday makers from all over the world visiting us year after year.

Here is a round up of some of the great events you can catch if you choose a summer trip to the Alps – trust us you don’t want to miss it!

Crankworx - Les Gets

14th - 18th of June 2017

The Crankworx competition returns to Les Gets for its second year in the mountain biking hotspot.

Last year saw some draw dropping features and tree lined runs and of course the crowd pleasing jumps.

Competitors travel far and wide to participate with Redbull covering most of the events you can catch the highlights from last year here. But to really get a feel for the size of the event and the speed of the riders, you’ll have to be there. The event of the week is normally the Slopestyle where riders battle out the biggest jumps and tricks. Hold onto your hats!

UTMB - Chamonix

28th August to the 3rd September 2017

The legendary Ultra Trial du Mont Blanc hosted in Chamonix has become something most trial runners plan their year around. The lengthy course (166km to be precise) and stunning scenery has put this event on the map as one of the toughest Ultramarathons around.

With a variety of races available for different levels and interests the atmosphere in Chamonix is buzzing whether you are just a spectator or a brave competitor.

Spartan Race - Morzine

1st - 2nd July 2017

The Spartan race returns to Morzine with a bang. Bigger and better than the previous year you’ll see athletes and amateurs a like push themselves to the max with this brutal assault course. Three different levels across 2 days, we can only describe the Spartan Race by asking you imagine Tough Mudder with and Army assault course ran by Satan himself.

Great fun to watch if you are not wanting to put yourself though hell, the finish line is normally a great spot to watch from and catch people jumping through fire (yes that’s right FIRE)

Spartan Start Morzine

Evergreen Endurance Marathon

9th - 10th September 2017

Triathlons have been one of the fastest growing sports in recent years with participation numbers growing the guys at Evergreen have made their own, environmentally friendly triathlon in the Alps. 

With 3 different lengths to choose from set in landscapes of Morzine, Chamonix and Les Houches it is truly not to be missed if this is the sport for you. Up and over the famous Col's of the region and in local lakes this picturesque triathlon ticks all the boxes. If you are not that way inclined you can register to volunteer to be close up to all the action!

Evergreen Endurance

Mont Blanc Rally - Morzine

31st August – 2nd September 2017

Ear plugs at the ready – Morzine welcomes back the annual Mont Blanc rally where thousands of professional racers take to the mountain roads to test the limits. You’ll see anything from souped up Peugeot’s, to Mercedes and Renault Clios. Tearing it round the mountain roads at speeds you might not thought possible on the hair pins. Get yourself a good spot and sit back and enjoy the zoom. The town will be a buzz with competitors and spectators and you can even check out the manufacturers works shops and the latest models all showcased at this great event.

Mont Blan Rally Morzine

Montreux Jazz Festival 

June 30th - July 15th 2017

Just an hour and 15 minutes from Geneva, you can enjoy the harmonious, pumping or jazzy beats that the Montreux Jazz festival has to offer.

You’re bound to have heard of this legendary musical event, and you may have even passed the café in Geneva Airport once, but nothing can compare to the event itself, beautifully set on Lac Leman, incredible theatres and great lines ups that never disappoint.

In addition to this you can indulge in exotic international street foods, bars and site seeing. Ticket prices range for 32chf up depending on the artist you want to see. You can also head there to enjoy the vibe and catch some of the great free music thats also running all over the festival, from buskers to street performers there is something to suit all music tastes at Montreux.

Chamonix Yoga Festival

Could you imagine a more pictureque spot for your downward dog? The Chamonix Yoga Festival are in their 4th year now. The festival gathers famous Yoga teachers from all over the world, with enthusiastic yogis. A variety of lessons on offer, both in door and outdoor as well as live music and work shops, the Chamonix Yoga Festival has truly established itself as a top European event.

Harley Days - Morzine

13th - 16th July

Once again Morzine prepares to be taken over by the Harley crew! Roaring of engines, a huge street market, live displays and tours plus a great big concert at the end of it all. Harley Days is an event not to be missed, with thousands of the crazy motorcycle enthusiasts around, the town becomes a buzz with activity and live music  -in the past from 80's rockers TOTO this year Trust and Blues Brothers headline - get your leathers on!
